KSnes9x

-> KSnes9x 1.9.1 is out! Get it at the download page.

KSnes9x is suffering a major rewrite with the release of KDE2. Here is a roadmap of the future versions of KSnes9x:

KSnes9x 1.9.1

  • Change the code to the KDE2 libraries
  • Make the basic stuff work under KDE2(directory loading, navigating, game launching, saving of options)

KSnes9x 1.9.2

  • Make profiling of options work
  • Add the new icons and images

KSnes9x 2.0

  • Make quick loading of snapshots and profiles work
  • Fix bugs (mainly the ones that were left behind because of the code rewrite)
  • Update on the webpage

KSnes9x 2.1

  • Make the documentation compatible with KDE2
  • Make more changes on the code, so that it would use the KDE2 Actions feature

KSnes9x 3.0

  • Change the complete application. Transform it from a one-emulator-specific frontend to a generic frontend, that would read XML files as rules (with the specific options of each emulator), and the KDE XML GUI builder to construct the GUI. So it could work as KSnes9x, KMAME, KNEStra, etc. Oh, and complete world domination. :)

Please note that, although KSnes9x versions 1.9.1 through 2.0 aren't going to be as feature-full as the old ones, and may be a little buggy and unstable, it's very important that everyone download and test them, so that we can squash the bugs as fast as we can (Patches are deeply appreciated) and get out of this development phase as soon as we can.

Besides, I'm looking really forward to KSnes9x 3.0 (that will probably have to change his name. Suggestions accepted), but first the code needs to be compatible with the new version of KDE.
